The guys at MAS try making a fiberglass speaker box
Here I am using a heat gun to speed things up a bit.
Our MDF box is glued together using Gluzilla and we have our contains set in a position we like.
Sandig and shaping the the epoxy filler
Once we laid our fiberglass mat on and let it tack we coated the box with body putty made from MAS Epoxy and thickeners
Just about done sanding and shaping, getting ready for primer
Our speaker box with primer, you might think we had built one of these before but this is the first.

Well here are the pictures we took while building our test speaker box. We had been hearing about how these boxes were built and decided to give it a try using MAS products.

  • We started by building a box out of MDF  and Gluzilla to get our base.

  • Then we set up some containers inside the box to give us our flat areas where the speakers would go.

  • Next we stretched some fleece over the containers and box base and adjusted things untill we had a shape we liked.

  • Then we mixed up some MAS Resin and Medium hardener to wet out the fleece.

  • Using a heat gun we heated the box to speed things up a bit.

  • Once the epoxy was hard we started wetting out our fiberglass mat over the fleece, we did about 2 layers of mat strips being sure to overlap them.

  • Next came the filler we mixed up the epoxy as normal and stirred in 1 part colloidal sillica and 3 parts Phenolic Micro Balloons spread this over the entire box and let it cure.

  • Then we sanded and shaped and primed our creation usind a high build automotive primer.
