Having won the 2004 and the 2005 Solar Splash World Championship of Solar Boating, Cedarville University undertook the task of defending the Solar Splash title in 2006 in the USA while simultaneously taking on the best of Europe in the inaugural Frisian Nuon Solar Challenge (FNSC) in Friesland, the Netherlands. While Solar Splash was familiar territory, racing in Europe was a whole new challenge. A team of 15 students (10 senior mechanical engineers, 2 electrical engineers, and 3 underclassmen) and two faculty advisors, partnered with over twenty corporate sponsors and three major benefactors to produce two world-class vessels that nearly swept to victory on both continents.
